Yushchenko on the US plan for Ukraine: this is Munich-2, but we will bypass it.
According to ТСН: The third president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, emphasized that the United States bears special responsibility for the policy trusted by many countries, including Ukraine. He stated this in an interview, commenting on American initiatives for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
“Many countries, including Ukraine, have chosen the path of freedom and democracy, relying on America's leadership. Dozens of nations have trusted American policy, and the US must be responsible for those who accepted this policy and remain committed to it,” said Yushchenko.
Yushchenko compared the current situation to the historical case of the Munich Agreement of 1938, when part of Czechoslovakia was handed over to Germany under pressure from European countries.
“Then British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain stated that without an agreement, the British would have to 'dig trenches in Eastern Europe in a country that is even hard to find on the map,' referring to Czechoslovakia,” he recalled.
Yushchenko noted that just 11 months after the signing of the agreement, World War II began, which clearly demonstrated the high price of 'peace'. He also emphasized that the current aggression of Russia against Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia poses a serious threat.
“We are talking about a reaction in a situation where on one side there is a pure, holy victim. I mean Ukraine, which in 1945 was one of the 50 founders of the UN and in 1994 voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons, transferring 1700 warheads and carriers to Russia,” the politician noted.
Yushchenko criticized the current 'peace plan' with 28 points, proposed by the countries-guarantors of Ukraine's sovereignty.
“It is humiliating for me to read these lines. I believe they should be archived because soon they will become a disgraceful page in Western diplomacy in the first half of the 21st century,” he stated.
He also compared this plan to the Munich Agreement, calling it 'Munich-2', but expressed confidence that the Ukrainian nation will not accept such conditions.
“We have approached Munich-2, but we will bypass it. Ukrainians will not accept such conditions,” emphasized the third president.
Europe is preparing a response to Russia. This concerns active actions in response to the rise of Russian hybrid attacks — from cyber operations to sudden NATO exercises.
It was also mentioned that the US scared Europeans with Russian missiles to promote the 'peace plan'. The US Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll, urged EU leaders to quickly conclude the war in Ukraine, using data on the increasing threats from the Russian Federation.
Yushchenko's expressed thoughts highlight the importance of supporting international commitments, especially in the context of modern global challenges. The transition to the 'peace plan', which has provoked such a critical reaction, may affect the future of Ukraine and its foreign policy, as well as the stability of the region as a whole. Approaching policies similar to the Munich Agreement is a worrying sign that requires the world's attention.
