Pension payments may be suspended in 2025: main reasons and how to avoid them

According to inkorr.com: The Pension Fund of Ukraine reported the main reasons for which pension payments to Ukrainians could be suspended in 2025. It also provided detailed instructions for the restoration of these payments. This information is crucial for millions of Ukrainian pensioners who need to know their rights and obligations to avoid problems with receiving social benefits. This was stated on the official website of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

What to do if the pension is not paid

If a pensioner has stopped receiving payments, they should urgently find out the reason. They can contact the territorial office of the Pension Fund in person or send a written request. Another option is to use the official Pension Fund portal through their personal account.

'The renewal of pension payments is carried out by the decision of the territorial office of the Pension Fund within 10 days after clarifying the circumstances and having conditions for restoring the payment', the fund states.

Reasons for the suspension of pension payments in Ukraine

The main reasons for which pension payments may be suspended:

  • Fictitious documents – establishing the fact of pension appointment based on forged documents or unreliable information.
  • Emigration – moving abroad for permanent residence.
  • Account inactivity – lack of movement of funds or non-receipt of payments for six months.
  • Loss of status – removal of status as a person with disabilities or change of employment status.
  • Absence of identification – failure to pass the mandatory physical identification.
  • Change of life circumstances – completion of education by the child-receiver of the pension or other status changes.

Payments can also be suspended if the bank through which the payments are made is excluded from the list of authorized financial institutions.

To avoid problems, pensioners must timely inform the Pension Fund about changes in their personal data in the accounting system, plans to leave Ukraine, and other circumstances that may affect their right to receive a pension.

Knowing one’s rights and obligations in the field of pension provision is the key to the uninterrupted receipt of social payments. It is important for pensioners to actively monitor their status and, if necessary, contact the Pension Fund authorities. This will help avoid misunderstandings and maintain stability in financial matters.
