V.I.T.A.L. Project Launches in Kharkiv Oblast
According to Novyny.live: The international charity 'Caritas Ukraine' has initiated the V.I.T.A.L. project in Kharkiv Oblast. This initiative will provide both financial and other forms of assistance to elderly individuals living alone and people with disabilities. Implementation of the project began in February 2026 in cooperation with Caritas Italy, with financial backing from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
Types of Assistance Provided by the Project
The V.I.T.A.L. project encompasses a wide range of support services, including:
- In-home care
- Telemedicine services
- Free rental of rehabilitation equipment
- Psychosocial support
- Vouchers for medication
- Agricultural grants
- Multi-purpose cash assistance
The vulnerable groups eligible for this aid are elderly people living alone, citizens with disabilities, and individuals with limited mobility due to severe illnesses. This support is crucial in a region heavily impacted by the ongoing conflict, where social services are under immense strain.
To qualify for the program, applicants must hold the status of an internally displaced person and have a monthly income not exceeding 6.3 thousand hryvnias. Financial assistance from the 'Right to Protection' charitable foundation has been available since February 2023. Citizens can register for aid by calling the hotline at 0-800-336-734. The implementation of the 'Consortium Response' project runs from 2023 to 2026 with support from the U.S. government, adding further stability and reliability to the provision of aid for those in need.
The V.I.T.A.L. project represents a significant step in supporting vulnerable population groups affected by the conflict and other socio-economic challenges.
Given the rising number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine, the execution of such initiatives can substantially improve their lives by providing essential resources and services. Partnerships with international organizations also highlight the global support for Ukraine during this difficult period.
