Kyiv Metro to Increase Fares for Passengers with Large Luggage: Who Will Pay More.
The majority of Kyiv residents use the metro every day to get to work, university, meetings, and other errands. Usually, a trip costs 8 hryvnias, but in August, some passengers have to pay more according to the rules of the Kyiv Metro.
Why Money in the Metro is Not Only for Tickets
Starting from 2025, passengers will be able to bring small bags, backpacks, tools, sports equipment, baby carriages, and other gear without additional charges. However, if the load exceeds the established sizes, they will have to pay extra for the trip.
What is Prohibited to Bring on the Metro in August
There are items that are forbidden to transport in the metro due to size, safety, or convenience for other passengers. These can include items that exceed dimensions, flammable substances, drugs, explosives, and more. Additionally, large items on carts, bicycles, and sports equipment can only be transported under certain conditions or disassembled.
August is the peak season for Ukrzaliznytsia with record demand for tickets and a rapid sellout of seats on popular routes. It is also worth noting that the European Commission is preparing a strategy for the development of high-speed railways in Europe to make trains competitive with air travel in various metrics.
