The Prosecutor's Office in the US will not drop the case against Trump regarding the bribery of a porn star.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has agreed to postpone announcing punishment for future US President Donald Trump in the case of bribing a porn star. This was reported by CNN.

In a letter to Judge Juan Merchan, the district attorney's office acknowledged that Trump is unlikely to be convicted 'before the end of the defendant's presidential term'. However, prosecutors believe that the indictment against Trump should remain in effect.

No existing law stipulates that a temporary immunity for a president from prosecution requires the closure of a criminal case initiated while the defendant did not have immunity, which concerns conduct for which the defendant has no immunity, the district attorney's office noted.

It is reported that last week, Merchan was supposed to decide on the possible dismissal of the indictment based on a US Supreme Court ruling made this summer that Trump should receive immunity for official actions while serving as president.

However, the district attorney's office recognized Trump's election victory as 'unprecedented circumstances,' thus the court's decision was postponed.

Trump's lawyers claim that the verdict should be dismissed both due to the ruling on presidential immunity and because their client is returning to the White House.

It should be noted that in May, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records regarding payments to his former attorney Michael Cohen to reimburse $130,000 paid to porn star Stormy Daniels to prevent her from revealing their relationship before the 2016 election.
