Protest in the United Kingdom: 2,000 people stood against the refugee camp.
According to inkorr.com: A large-scale protest took place in the United Kingdom against the accommodation of 600 asylum seekers at a military camp in Crowborough. Approximately 2,000 people demanded that the government cancel plans to use the army camp for this purpose. Local residents, totaling around 20,000 individuals, expressed concerns that the group of asylum seekers mainly consists of single men. As a result, some residents decided to install alarms in their homes, fearing for their safety. Previously, Afghan families evacuated from Kabul in 2021 had been at this same camp.
Society's Reaction
This situation reflects how changes in the United Kingdom's migration policy resonate within society. The announced plan to tighten immigration rules, which includes the implementation of a Danish model, has significantly outraged citizens and led to protests against the accommodation of refugees in a military camp.
In Ukraine and other countries around the world, similar protests are not uncommon. The reaction to migration processes may indicate deeper social and economic issues that society is trying to balance. This situation in Crowborough certainly deserves closer monitoring, as it demonstrates the complex interaction between the community, the state, and migrants.
