In a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude for the 'heroic participation' of North Korean troops in military actions against Ukraine. This was reported by The Guardian.
In the letter published by North Korean state media, Putin called the DPRK troops 'heroic' and noted the strong military ties. The President of Russia emphasized that this friendship has strengthened even in the current military realities. He also mentioned that the involvement of North Korean soldiers in the liberation of the Kursk region from Ukrainian occupiers proves this.
In recent years, Russia and North Korea have strengthened military relations by signing a mutual defense pact. North Korea has sent more than 10,000 troops to Ukraine and provided Russia with artillery shells and long-range missiles. The Russian military counteroffensive in the Kursk region is linked to the involvement of North Korean troops in the area.
