Putin may visit Qatar, and the emir plans a visit to Russia
The Ambassador of Qatar to Russia, Ahmed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, reported a possible visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Qatar. Moscow and Doha are currently discussing the date of Putin's trip and the time of the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's visit to Russia. The ambassador confirmed that Putin received an invitation from the emir, but concrete dates have not yet been agreed upon.
The last meeting between Putin and the Emir of Qatar took place in July during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. At that time, the Emir of Qatar accepted the invitation to visit Russia and invited Putin to Qatar. Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, also held talks with the Emir of Qatar and noted Qatar's active role in the issue of returning Ukrainian children and in preparing the Peace Summit.
According to The Washington Post, Ukraine and Russia planned to hold talks in Qatar to conclude an agreement that would stop strikes on energy facilities. However, the talks were disrupted due to the conflict in the Kursk region.
