Minister's Advisor on Vacation in Turkey: The Shocking Reality of Resorts.
According to inkorr.com: Olena Severenchuk, advisor to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, shared her impressions of her vacation in Turkey on social media. She touched on the topic of the Russification of Turkish resorts and described how Ukrainians behaved abroad. Olena traveled to Turkey with her children, who hadn't had the chance to relax by the sea for a long time due to internal events in Ukraine.
In the hotel, the Russian language dominated almost everywhere. When Olena's daughter fell ill and they needed to go to the hospital, the medical staff refused to communicate in English, believing that their patients were mostly Russian-speaking tourists. This attitude shocked Olena, who recognized this situation as a serious problem and decided to address it with the tour operator.
Agreement to Refuse the Russian Language Angered the Hotel Staff
During a conversation with the hotel manager, who tried to speak Ukrainian, Olena learned that he was one of the few Ukrainians who decided to completely refuse to speak Russian in communication. Olena thanked him for his support and attentive attitude towards the Ukrainian language. However, she noted the negative consequences of the Russian atmosphere, which may affect vacationers and the general perception of Ukrainians abroad.
In her account of her vacation in Turkey, Severenchuk emphasized the problem of Russification of Turkish resorts and expressed concern about the impact of such an atmosphere on the image and reputation of Ukrainians in the world.
Olena Severenchuk's experience illustrates important social changes that are occurring not only in Ukraine but also beyond its borders. In the context of globalization and international events, Ukrainians face challenges in communication and perception abroad. The issue of Russification of resorts prompts reflection on cultural identity and the importance of supporting the native language even outside our country.
