Spain Sets Tourism Records: 55 Million Arrivals in Seven Months.
According to inkorr.com: In 2025, Spain noted a significant increase in the number of foreign tourists. During the first seven months of the year, 55.5 million people visited the country, and in July, this figure reached a record 11 million. This significantly impacted the tourist season, complicating vacations in September.
Changes in Spanish Plans
Spaniards are also changing their habits: they are visiting resorts less in August, opting for vacations in September. Hotel prices in the Canary Islands, considered a key indicator of the tourism sector, are rising sharply. International tourists spend an average of 1490 euros per week, and in July, total spending already reached 16.5 billion euros.
Hotel and apartment prices in the Canary Islands, considered a barometer of Spanish tourism, have risen by 5.3% between September 2023 and 2024. Currently, they are approximately 25% higher than in 2019.
Problems in Air Transportation
However, there have been difficulties in air transportation. Ryanair canceled over 40 flights to Spain due to a dispute over airport fees, blaming Aena for excessive demands.
Tourism in Spain is actively growing, leading to record numbers of foreign tourist arrivals. However, problems with air transportation may negatively affect the country's tourism industry, especially during the peak season.
