Russia has applied a new Geran-2 drone: what is known about its characteristics and origin.

According to ТСН: At the beginning of 2026, a new unmanned aerial vehicle 'Geran-2' was recorded during attacks on Ukraine. According to intelligence data, this UAV is approximately 6 meters long and has a wingspan of up to 5.5 meters. It differs from previous versions of the 'Geran' series due to its aerodynamic design.

The majority of the main nodes and components of the apparatus are unified with other models in this series. Among them are: a 12-channel satellite navigation system 'Kometa', a tracker based on a Raspberry microcomputer, as well as 3G/4G modems. The Telefly engine installed on the new model has greater thrust compared to the one used on the 'Geran-3' UAV.

The weight of the warhead is approximately 90 kg, and the declared range of destruction is about 1,000 km.

'This UAV is difficult to consider a proprietary development of the Russian Federation. Significant constructive and technological similarities have been noted with the Iranian drone Karrar,' the agency clarified.

It is also worth noting that Iran has demonstrated a new jet strike kamikaze drone Hadid-110, which, according to state media and technical descriptions from the American military base OE Data Integration Network, is capable of reaching speeds of up to 510 km/h.

These new developments indicate active cooperation between Russia and Iran in the field of unmanned technologies. The use of modernized UAVs could significantly impact tactical capabilities in the region, changing the balance of power on the battlefield.
