Russia threatens to 'freeze' residents of occupied territories if they do not comply with its conditions.
Russian occupiers continue to force residents of temporarily occupied territories to obtain Russian passports.
The occupiers have stopped coal distribution to people from the Left Bank of Kherson region who have not obtained Russian passports. This document is necessary to receive coal or compensation.
«Although Russian legislation does not provide for this, the occupiers also require individuals to renounce their Ukrainian citizenship when obtaining a passport on temporarily occupied territories. In this way, the Russians are trying to legally remove Ukrainians from the region», – reports the Center for National Resistance.
The Center urges people to report anyone who assists the Kremlin in implementing red passports.
It should be reminded that from February 5, 2025, a new Russian law «On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation» will come into force. According to it, Ukrainians who have not obtained Russian passports in temporarily occupied territories and have not changed their citizenship will not be able to legalize their relationships.
Also, starting from February 5, 2025, a registry of controlled individuals will be established in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, to which the enemy will add Ukrainians without Russian passports.
If data about a Ukrainian who has not obtained a Russian passport gets into the registry, they will have to leave the settlement or have legal grounds for residence. Additionally, people without Russian passports will be prohibited from banking operations, real estate registration, vehicle management, and marriage.
