Russia continues to produce 'Shahed' drones to attack Ukraine

Ukraine has received information that Russia is not reducing the production of 'Shahed' drones despite the existing sanctions. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Russian factory produced 5,760 drones in 2024, which is twice as many as a year ago. It is planned to produce 6,000 drones by September 2025.

Furthermore, Russia is working on creating low-tech decoy drones that can bypass Ukraine's air defense systems. Up to 10,000 such decoys are planned to be manufactured by the end of 2024. Analysts report the construction of two new workshops and the installation of protective nets at the Russian factory.

However, the Russian army is forced to use low-quality engines produced in China due to existing sanctions.

Experts claim that Russia is trying to strike critical infrastructure in Ukraine while simultaneously increasing the production of 'Shahed' drones. The conclusion of a strategic partnership agreement with Iran in January 2025 may contribute to this process.

As of today, Russia has approximately 1,400 long-range missiles in stock, including 350 'Kalibrs', 500 'Onyxes', over 50 'Kinzhal', over 130 'Iskanders', and over 400 missiles of the Kh-101, Kh-55, and Kh-35 classes.
