Russia has once again intensified pressure on Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region: the goal has been named.
The Russian army has once again attacked Velyka Novosilka
New hostilities have erupted in the Russian Federation in the east of Ukraine. The troops have once again attacked Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region aiming to capture this city. This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence.
According to intelligence data, Russian forces have significantly intensified pressure on the central part of Donetsk region. The Russian occupation troops are moving north, trying to capture the villages of Neskuchne and Vremivka, which are located west of Velyka Novosilka.
British intelligence mentions that Russian attempts to capture the city in 2022 were unsuccessful, while the Armed Forces of Ukraine were able to repel the enemy in 2023, keeping them to the south of the city.
“Russia's advance along this axis became possible after the capture of other cities in the east - in particular, Vuhledar in October 2024 and Kurakhove in January 2025,” the intelligence report states.
It is worth noting that the distance from the front line to the borders of Dnipropetrovsk region has shrunk to less than 5 km. Already, Russian troops have approached the settlement of Udachne in Donetsk region.
In addition, the full-scale war has now been ongoing for 1061 days. The strongest battles are taking place in the Pokrovsk direction.
