Russia attacked Ukraine in the morning of January 15. The main targets for the Russians were gas infrastructure and energy facilities. This was reported by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
«Another Russian massive strike. In the middle of winter, the Russians again targeted our energy sector. Among the targets were gas infrastructure and energy facilities that ensure a normal life for people. More than 40 missiles were launched in this strike, including ballistic ones. At least 30 of them were destroyed. Also, during the night, there were over 70 Russian strike drones. Thanks to our air defense and all involved units, we are maintaining the functioning of our energy system», - the message stated.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine constantly needs to enhance its air defense capabilities.
«During the NATO summit in Washington and within the framework of the military agreement «Ramstein», we were given promises that have not yet been fully fulfilled. We talked about receiving licenses for the production of air defense and anti-missile systems, which could become one of the most effective security guarantees for Ukraine. This is a realistic goal that needs to be achieved», - the president noted.
Recall that early in the morning on January 15, the Russians attacked the energy infrastructure in the Lviv region. In particular, strikes were made on two critical infrastructure facilities in the Drohobych and Stryi districts.
As reported by the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional military-civilian administration Svitlana Onishchuk, the Russians also attacked critical infrastructure facilities in Prykarpattia.
