Rheinmetall to supply Ukraine with Skyranger systems against drones: details of the agreement.
According to inkorr.com: The German defense concern Rheinmetall intends to increase military assistance to Ukraine by providing it with anti-drone air defense systems called Skyranger. As noted by the company's CEO, Armin Papperger, the delivery of these systems will begin later this year, reports 'Glavkom'.
Skyranger Defense System
Skyranger is a mobile anti-aircraft platform that can be used on tanks, including the Leopard model. It is capable of covering an area of 16 square kilometers. This system can create zones free of drones, which is particularly relevant in the current conditions for Ukraine. The Bundeswehr is also showing interest in this technology.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting to discuss technological issues. This is reported by 'Glavkom' citing the head of state's social media.
Strategic Assessments of Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin banks on a prolonged war, believing that Ukrainian forces will tire before the Russian economy suffers serious losses. This is mentioned in an article by The Wall Street Journal, where the publication analyzes the current situation on the front and assesses Putin's strategy as a war of attrition. He believes he can endure longer than Ukraine from a military and economic standpoint.
Putin believes that Ukraine will not withstand prolonged pressure. He is confident that the Russian economy is resilient enough to survive the war, even under sanctions.
Thus, Rheinmetall plans to enhance military support for Ukraine by supplying Skyranger drone defense systems, significantly strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities in the context of the conflict in the east of the country. This demonstrates increasing support from Western states and confirms the readiness to assist Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity.
