They own a unique dinosaur pine: a couple from Britain sells seeds for charity.
Unique 'money pine' in Wichenford
According to inkorr.com: Pamela and Alistair Thompson from the English village of Wichenford have become the owners of a rare 'money pine' Wollongong, also known as 'dinosaur pine'. This tree is one of the most unique in the world, considered a 'living fossil' and is over 200 million years old. After 14 years of cultivation, the tree has produced five large cones with valuable seeds, each containing about a hundred seeds.
The couple decided to sell the seeds for a nominal price and direct the proceeds to charity.
Growing interest in 'green burials'
At the same time, there is a growing interest in the United States in 'green burials' as an ecological alternative to traditional burial methods. This practice aims to reduce the carbon footprint by using biodegradable materials and foregoing traditional metal caskets and concrete vaults.
The uniqueness of the 'money pine' and the growing interest in eco-friendly practices indicate a shift in attitudes towards nature and traditional burial methods. Perhaps such initiatives will encourage other plant owners to seek ways to support ecology and charity, as well as raise awareness of the importance of preserving rare species.
