A Year Since Odesa Attack: Missile Struck 500 Meters from Zelenskyy and Greek PM.
Anniversary of Missile Strike on Odesa Port
According to Novyny.live: March 6 marks one year since a Russian ballistic missile struck the port of Odesa, killing five people and wounding others. The strike was carried out with an 'Iskander-M' missile. An air raid alarm sounded at 10:41, and the explosion occurred at 10:43, with the impact landing just 500 meters from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was present in the city at the time. This attack is a stark reminder of the persistent threat to civilian infrastructure and political leaders in Ukraine.
A Pattern of Russian Aggression
This assault was part of a broader series of aggressive Russian actions in the region during that period, which included other tragic incidents. Specifically:
- On March 2, 2023, a drone attack on a residential building killed 12 people, including five children.
- On March 4, a civilian vessel under the Panamanian flag was struck by a drone.
- On March 5, Russian forces attacked southern Odesa region with strike drones.
“We did not have time to go to a shelter; it was a very shocking experience.”
Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the situation, stating: “You see who we are dealing with; they do not care where they hit.”
This anniversary serves as a somber reminder of the human cost of the ongoing conflict and evokes deep sympathy. Odesa mourned its dead, honoring the memory of those lost to aggression. The recent events underscore the continued volatility in the region, a source of grave concern not only for Ukraine but also for the international community, which closely monitors the conflict's impact on civilians.
