Obstacles for Bereaved Families Seeking Payouts

According to UATV: Relatives of fallen Russian military personnel are encountering major hurdles when trying to claim compensation, despite raising the issue repeatedly on social media. Many families have voiced frustration over drawn-out paperwork processes that delay the disbursement of funds. A key requirement is an official death certificate, but obtaining one can take years, making an already painful situation even more difficult.

Each deceased soldier’s family is entitled to 13 million rubles in compensation. Yet without the proper documentation, that money remains out of reach. A common complaint is that the cause of death is often listed as “unknown,” which further complicates and prolongs the application process for financial aid.

Mobilization and the Compensation Crisis

Against this backdrop, Russia is preparing to mobilize residents of Crimea for combat duty starting April 1. Additionally, the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade is restructuring and plans to form a new division. The compensation situation for the families of fallen soldiers remains extremely strained, and their social media appeals have so far failed to bring about any improvement.

At a time when state support is critically important for grieving families, delays in payments risk fueling further social unrest. The need for swift and efficient processing of compensation claims is increasingly urgent, as it directly affects the well-being of those who have lost loved ones in the war.
