Romanchuk Sensationally Misses Olympic Final in Favorite Distance.
On the third day of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, 19 athletes from Ukraine are competing. One of them - multi-medalist of the 2020 Olympics, swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk, participated in the 800 meters freestyle event.
To reach the final, Romanchuk needed to place in the top eight in the qualifiers. However, after the swim, he finished last and took seventeenth place. It should be noted that this year he already participated in the World Championship final in this distance, where he placed eighth.
Alongside Romanchuk, the world vice-champion 2023 Samuel Short and the 2022 World Championship silver medalist Florian Wellbrock also did not make it to the final.
The next distance for Mykhailo Romanchuk is 1500 meters freestyle. The qualification will take place on August 3.
Let's recall that Ukrainian judoka Daria Bilodid lost to her opponent due to disqualification.
