In response, Lithuania plans to conscript approximately 5,000 young people in 2026 as part of a new strategy involving a one-year draft to build up its reserve forces. According to recent reports, Russia has scheduled a reform of its armed forces that includes a 30% troop increase to 1.5 million personnel.
