Finnish Foreign Minister: Russia will remain a threat to Europe even after the war.

Statement by the Finnish Foreign Minister
On August 30, at a meeting of the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council in Copenhagen, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen emphasized the need to recognize the enduring threat from Russia. She compared the risks posed by Russian politics to cancer.
'The freedom-loving world must focus on the real treatment of cancer, rather than just managing the pain. This means that we must take as a given the fact that Russia, unfortunately, will represent a long-term strategic threat, and, therefore, it will pose a threat not only to Ukraine in the future but to all of us. So we must find the strength within ourselves and unite it to pressure Russia to stop the killings,' said the Finnish Foreign Minister.
Valtonen also stressed the active support of European countries for the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump towards a peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
'But at the same time, we must ensure that what happened in Ukraine never happens again. And, obviously, in this regard, only Russia is to blame. They initiated the war from the beginning. And we also have to understand that just some kind of peace will not help, because the problem is that living under occupation is not real peace for people. It is the opposite of freedom. It means deportations, rapes, violence, and, ultimately, that people have no opportunity to live a full life, freely and as they wish,' said Valtonen.
It should be noted that earlier NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte reported that European countries are already producing six times more ammunition than two years ago.
The theses of Elina Valtonen's speech highlight the relevance of security issues in Europe and the need for collective action. In today's circumstances, it is important to maintain unity in the fight against aggression to ensure stability and security not only for Ukraine but for the entire continent. The developments surrounding the conflict in Ukraine dictate the necessity of consolidating the efforts of neighboring countries and partners in countering new types of threats.
