Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that Ukrainian intelligence has received information about the Kremlin's readiness to strike critical nuclear energy facilities in Ukraine. In particular, it concerns open distribution devices of nuclear power plants and transmission substations, which are important for nuclear energy safety.

According to the minister, striking these objects could lead to a nuclear incident with global consequences. This information has already been passed on to Ukrainian partners and the IAEA. Andriy Sybiha also emphasized that Russia, by seizing a nuclear power plant in Europe, is blackmailing the world, while Ukraine's peace formula includes a clause on ensuring radiation and nuclear safety.

Therefore, the minister called on all international organizations and states to take measures to prevent a situation where Ukraine becomes a terrorist country.

Earlier, the IAEA almost daily recorded drone flights in the South Ukrainian NPP area. Also, during the general conference, a resolution on nuclear safety in Ukraine was adopted, supported by 65 member countries of the agency.

It was reported that one of the power supply lines of the Zaporizhzhia NPP was damaged due to Russian shelling, creating a risk of losing external power for cooling the reactors. The IAEA is also discussing a new emergency plan for the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is to come into force by the end of September.

In this regard, the IAEA recommends refraining from restarting the reactors of the Zaporizhzhia NPP while the war continues, as the situation at the plant remains unstable.
