Massive attack by Russia on December 23: expert explained the real intentions of the Kremlin.
According to ТСН: On December 23, 2025, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukrainian territory, using missiles and strike drones, resulting in significant damage to the country's energy system.
Military expert, retired lieutenant general and founder of the charity 'Close the Sky of Ukraine' Ihor Romanenko noted in a conversation with 24 Channel that these attacks indicate that the ongoing negotiations do not reflect the true intentions of the Kremlin regarding peace.
Why the attack happened right now
Romanenko explained that Russia continues to try to seize as much Ukrainian territory as possible by striking ground objects.
'There was a certain pause in massive strikes, but the Russians used this time to accumulate weapons with a cynical approach.'
According to him, the occupiers may have been waiting for severe frosts to deliver the maximum impact on Ukraine's energy sector. Despite Europe's proposals to temporarily halt hostilities during the Christmas holidays, the Kremlin is acting according to its plan.
'Most likely, Putin will use the holidays to deliver as many strikes as possible. We already see that Russia is not only striking randomly at targets but also concentrating attacks on specific regions.'
What Ukraine should do
The expert emphasized that Ukraine needs to strengthen air defense and form initiatives based on territorial communities to enhance protection against air attacks.
'Citizens must remain vigilant, follow action algorithms during alarms, and continue to defend the country.'
As a reminder, in the morning of December 23, Kyiv underwent a Russian drone attack. Debris fell near a residential building in the Svyatoshyn district, where windows were shattered on the fifth floor. There are reports of five injured, including a 16-year-old child.
This news confirms that the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine remains a serious threat to the civilian population and critical infrastructure. It is now important that not only the military but also all citizens remain prepared and follow the recommendations of specialists to ensure their safety.
