Ukrainian Official: Russia Lacks Capability to Seize Odesa and Mykolaiv.
Analysis of the Frontline Situation by Oleksiy Honcharenko
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko has stated that Russian forces are incapable of achieving a breakthrough to capture Odesa, Mykolaiv, or reach the Moldovan border. He asserts that Russia lacks the genuine military capacity to execute such an operation. Honcharenko also pointed out that the pace of the Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine remains extremely slow, indicating significant difficulties in implementing their military strategies.
Honcharenko highlighted the ongoing Russian effort to capture the city of Pokrovsk, which has now lasted for approximately 15 months. Their progress in recent months, however, has been minimal, measured in mere hundreds of meters, and only occasionally a few kilometers.
'These are absolutely miserable results,' he emphasized. It is important to note that before the full-scale invasion, Pokrovsk was home to around 100,000 people.
Russian Casualties and Strategic Ambitions
Furthermore, Honcharenko drew attention to the massive losses Russia has sustained since the start of its full-scale invasion. Specifically, he reported that Russia has lost over one million military personnel. This figure exceeds the losses suffered by any country in any conflict since the Second World War.
'No one is capable of waging such a war for even a few years, let alone a hundred. Therefore, there is no chance of capturing Mykolaiv or Odesa,' Honcharenko concluded.
Thanks to the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russia's naval power in the Black Sea has been critically undermined, which also impacts the aggressor's strategic plans. The situation on the front demonstrates that Ukrainian forces continue to effectively counter Russian offensive attempts. These assessments come as Western military aid remains crucial for Ukraine's defense.
Oleksiy Honcharenko's statements underscore the severe challenges facing Russian troops on the frontline and point to their staggering casualties. These factors are likely to influence the Kremlin's future strategic decisions, as the war's duration and intensity cast serious doubt on the effectiveness of Russian military operations. Ukrainian forces, for their part, continue to show a resilient capacity to contain the aggressor, a dynamic that will be a key element in shaping future military and political scenarios in the region.
