Restoration of the Kakhovka Hydro Power Plant: why the occupiers' promises are just a deception.
Promise of restoring the Kakhovka reservoir
According to inkorr.com: Volodymyr Saldo, head of the occupation administration in the Kherson region, stated that the Kakhovka reservoir will be restored, but only 'after the conflict is over'. These words sound like an attempt to divert attention from the real problems caused by the occupiers. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation through 'Glavcom'.
Accusations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for blowing up the hydro power plant
The occupation authorities are trying to blame the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the explosion of the Kakhovka hydro power plant by spreading false news about missile strikes. But the true culprits of the dam's destruction are the Russian troops, as confirmed by numerous international investigations.
According to the CPD: 'The consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydro power plant led to a large-scale man-made disaster. Hundreds of thousands of hectares of agricultural land have been left without water in southern Ukraine, many settlements were affected, and unique ecosystems were destroyed.'
Long-term consequences
The Center for Countering Disinformation also emphasizes that promises to restore the reservoir 'after the conflict is over' may in fact remain just promises. This is an attempt to distract from serious crimes and create an illusion of care about the consequences of the disaster.
In June 2023, the occupiers destroyed the dam of the Kakhovka hydro power plant, leading to significant changes in the water level of the rivers flowing into the reservoir. At the same time, it is important to note that the decrease in water levels in other rivers of the Dnipro reservoir is not related to the Kakhovka hydro power plant, despite widespread myths about it.
The article emphasizes that the promises of the occupation administration regarding the restoration of the Kakhovka reservoir 'after the conflict is over' merely attempt to evade responsibility for the man-made disaster caused by the Russian forces, which has caused significant damage to ecosystems and agriculture. The attempts of the occupiers to distract attention from their crimes contradict the facts confirmed by international organizations.
This situation underscores the serious consequences taking place in southern Ukraine due to military actions. The spread of misinformation and baseless accusations not only harm the real situation but also complicate the recovery of the region in the future. There is an urgent need for transparency and truth, which can become the foundation for the restoration and rehabilitation of the affected areas.
