Russia Begins to Feel the War’s Toll: Stetsenko on Drones, Laser Weapons, and Air Defense.
Frontline Situation
According to Novyny.live: Serhii Stetsenko highlights that Russia is already experiencing losses in its war against Ukraine. He notes that the majority of Russian soldiers fight for financial incentives, with 90% of them motivated by monetary gain. Over the past three months, Russia has faced serious recruitment difficulties, falling short of its enlistment target by 2,000 to 3,000 personnel. These factors point to declining morale and reduced capabilities within the Russian military.
Ukrainian Strikes and Emerging Technologies
Meanwhile, the frequency of Ukrainian attacks on Russian soil has increased since March. Recent events include a strike on the Kremniy El plant in Bryansk, carried out using Storm Shadow missiles. At the same time, Ukrainian drones continue to prove their effectiveness, intercepting 20-30% of all Shahed drones using interceptor drones. This, in turn, complicates Russia’s ability to launch large-scale Shahed attacks.
Stetsenko also emphasizes that 'Ukraine possesses laser weapons that could significantly enhance its defensive capabilities.'
According to him, the enemy shows no intention of stopping, and there will be no freeze in the war this year. This reflects Ukraine’s determination to continue its actions, a stance further evidenced by the escalation of attacks on Russian territory.
Considering all these factors, Russia is beginning to realize that the war carries serious consequences for its military forces, and that Ukrainian drones, along with advanced air defense systems, are substantially boosting Ukraine’s chances of success in this conflict.
The situation on the front remains tense, with both sides adjusting their tactics and strategies. The increased intensity of Ukrainian attacks inside Russia may signal new phases of the conflict, in which Ukraine demonstrates a capacity for proactive operations. At the same time, Russia’s recruitment problems and declining troop morale suggest that the conflict may become protracted, potentially presenting fresh challenges for both parties.
