The Kremlin strengthens air defense to protect facilities from Ukrainian attacks
The Kremlin plans to enhance the strength of air defenses for defense facilities in border regions to protect against attacks from Ukrainian drones. This was reported in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev met with representatives of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Bryansk region and discussed increasing the production of Russian air defense systems and the protection of industrial and state storage facilities in this region.
Ukrainian strikes in the Russian rear are mostly aimed at the defense-industrial base and other facilities that support Russia’s military operations, including the Bryansk Chemical Plant. The Kremlin may increasingly be interested in strengthening air defense capabilities, especially to protect such facilities as the state of the Russian domestic economy continues to deteriorate.
To assess the situation at the Bryansk Chemical Plant, which continues to carry out the Russian state defense order after Ukrainian strikes, Medvedev also visited the plant.
On the night of January 24, explosions were heard in the suburbs of Moscow as drones attacked the city. There were also explosions in the Ryazan region, where oil processing facilities were attacked. As a result of the fire damage, the Ryazan Oil Refinery and the Ryazan Thermal Power Plant were set on fire.
