Russia drops Stalin-era bombs on Ukraine: how Soviet weaponry works.
According to inkorr.com: Unlike Ukraine, Russia did not destroy old Soviet weapons, and now these weapons are being used by the enemy on the battlefield. The occupiers are employing heavy weaponry from the Stalin era in the war against Ukraine, including FABs, guided aerial bombs from the 1950s.
"In aerial bombs, the caliber is defined not in millimeters but in kilograms. The 'five hundred' is the main bomb. Most often, the Su-24M carries such bombs weighing 500 kg. They are hung under the wings of the aircraft using special holders," said the expert.
Ukraine is also using old Soviet weapons. For instance, air-to-air missiles of the R-60 type are installed on Su-25 attack aircraft and Su-24M bombers for defense. Additionally, the Ukrainian long-range cruise missile 'Flamingo' is already in serial production, with plans to deliver about 200 units every month.
Forgotten Soviet weapons are used in modern conflicts
Some countries, such as Russia, have left old Soviet weapons untapped. This has led to these weapons now being used in conflicts, including the war in eastern Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine is employing old weapons for defense and producing new combat systems.
Old Soviet weapons, not destroyed by Russia, remain relevant in modern conflicts, including the war in eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine is using these weapons for its defense and the creation of new combat systems.
