Escalation in Donetsk Region

According to UATV: Russian forces continue to target civilian infrastructure in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, causing widespread harm to the population. On March 11, Kramatorsk suffered a devastating attack when four aerial bombs struck its downtown area. The assault left at least one person injured—a 67-year-old woman who sustained a blast injury. The destruction was extensive: 68 civilian sites were damaged, including 17 apartment buildings.

Witnesses have described the terrifying aftermath. Valentina, an 88-year-old resident, recalled how the building 'swayed' during the strike and how she and others had to 'sit and lie down on the landing.' She reported spending 'the whole night without light, moving in the dark,' expressing deep uncertainty about what lies ahead:

“What will happen—we don’t know”
(Valentina). She also noted that 'the city is dying out.'

Aid for Residents

Meanwhile, the 'White Angel' crew is actively assisting local residents. The team has evacuated four people from Mykolaivka and is now heading toward the city, where two families are waiting for them. Crew members reported:

“Right now, the 'White Angel' crew is heading to the city of Mykolaivka. Two families are waiting for us there”
('White Angel' crew).

It is important to note that the shelling did not spare only residential buildings. According to Artem Kuznetsov, 'dozens of multi-story buildings, educational institutions, cultural facilities, shopping centers, and stores have been damaged.' Investigative and operational teams are on site to determine the full circumstances of the tragedy. Attacks on frontline settlements in Donetsk region show no signs of stopping, leaving the situation extremely tense for local residents.

The crisis in Donetsk region remains critical, as Russian troops deliberately strike civilian targets, resulting in significant human and material losses. Damage to housing and social infrastructure has placed local residents in a dire position, forcing many to seek help or evacuation. The efforts of volunteer groups like 'White Angel' highlight the importance of supporting the affected, but the urgent need for lasting security and infrastructure restoration persists.
