Zelenskyy Reveals New Figures: Russian Military Casualties Exceed 1.2 Million.
Battlefield Losses for Russia Assessed
According to UATV: Ukrainian military intelligence acquired documents on March 10th detailing an assessment of Russian battlefield casualties. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 62% of the 1.315 million Russian casualties are fatalities, while the remaining 38% are wounded. These figures indicate a shift in the ratio of Russian soldiers killed versus injured, corroborating new loss estimates.
Oleg Ivashchenko, head of Ukraine's Defence Intelligence, stated that since the full-scale invasion began in 2022, the Russian army has lost over 1.2 million personnel. Russian assessments put their own irreversible losses at 1,315,000 dead and seriously wounded. These numbers highlight the immense human cost Russia has incurred in a conflict now stretching into its third year, a scale of attrition that has significant implications for its military capacity.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy underscored the importance of this data, noting: 'In particular, a change in the ratio of killed to wounded Russians has been recorded.'
The obtained data on Russian troop losses could become a crucial factor in shaping the military strategies of both Ukraine and Russia. The altered ratio of fatalities to injuries on the battlefield may impact the morale of both nations' forces and their ability to sustain combat operations. Further assessments and tactical adjustments stemming from this information could prove pivotal to the conflict's outcome.
