Zelenskyy Reports Record Missile Barrage in Major Russian Assault.
Ukraine Endures Major Russian Air Assault
According to UATV: In a nighttime attack on February 3, 2023, Russia launched a massive and targeted air assault against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated. He reported that the strike involved a record number of missiles and other aerial weapons. In total, Russian forces deployed 521 separate air attack assets, which included:
- 32 ballistic missiles
- 11 missiles of other types
- 28 cruise missiles
- 450 attack drones
Zelenskyy highlighted the severe strain on heating systems in cities including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Lozova in the Kharkiv region. This relentless targeting of civilian infrastructure is a hallmark of Russia's winter campaign. The President has directed the government and the Ministry of Energy to implement measures to support the energy grid against these renewed threats.
Call for Diplomatic Action
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for urgent action from Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its entire diplomatic corps to actively inform international partners about the current situation.
“I expect the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and our entire diplomatic corps to work with maximum activity to inform our partners about what is happening.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
This assault represents another escalation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2014. With growing threats to energy infrastructure and a critical need for international support, Ukrainian leadership is focused on strengthening national defense and ensuring the stability of its energy systems. The ongoing war continues to be a major point of global concern, demanding measured responses and sustained support for Ukraine's sovereignty from the international community.
