Russia will increase propaganda funding by 54%: what does it mean

According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that Russia is actively conducting an information war despite a decrease in military spending in the budget for 2026. He emphasized that funding for propaganda in Russia will rise by an unprecedented 54%.

“This clearly indicates the priorities of the aggressor state: unable to win on the battlefield, they are mainly betting on disinformation,” said Andrii Sybiha.

Moreover, he stressed that in today's world, words have become an important tool, especially in diplomacy. Strengthening information resilience is one of Ukraine's main priorities for effectively protecting national interests and countering Russian aggression in the information sphere.

Increase in funding for television propaganda in Russia

The Russian authorities plan to significantly increase the budget for television propaganda against the backdrop of heightened restrictions in social networks and the Internet. According to data provided by the opposition media "Verstka", in 2026, state television channels will receive 106.4 billion rubles, which far exceeds the planned 69.1 billion rubles for 2025.

The increase in propaganda funding in Russia indicates an escalation of the information war that the country is waging not only on military fronts but also in media and diplomacy. This trend underscores the need to strengthen information resilience and security to protect national interests in the face of constant disinformation and manipulation.

Thus, the activation of Russian propaganda signifies its strategic importance in modern warfare. In Ukraine, the importance of countering these information attacks is understood, and efforts continue to enhance information resilience to protect the truth and its citizens in the challenging context of the information war.
