Russians attacked the fire station in Druzhkivka on Rescuer's Day: all safe.
Attack on the fire station in Druzhkivka
According to inkorr.com: On September 17, on Rescuer's Day, Russian troops attacked a fire station in Druzhkivka, located in the Donetsk region. This was reported by 'Glavkom', referring to the State Emergency Service.
"A drone attacked the building: the blast wave blew out the entrance gates of the garage, and debris damaged the facade. But the main thing is that the rescuers managed to hide in a shelter. No one was hurt. The equipment also remained intact," the message states.
The State Emergency Service notes that this is not the first case where Russian soldiers intentionally try to target emergency rescue units. "And it is especially cynical that this happened on the professional holiday of those who save the lives of others every day," the statement adds.
Rescuer's holiday
It should be noted that the tradition of celebrating rescuers on this day was initiated by the decree of the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, in 2008. On Rescuer's Day, everyone who works in emergency services and civil protection is congratulated: firefighters, dog handlers, divers, and volunteers. On the occasion of the holiday, 'Glavkom' has prepared special greetings and festive cards to thank these heroic professionals for their courage and selflessness.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the rescuers of the State Emergency Service on their professional holiday.
The incident in Druzhkivka demonstrates the danger that rescuers face every day and emphasizes the importance of honoring their work on this special day. The attack on the fire station during the holiday is a vivid example of the cynicism and great risks they take while saving the lives of others.
