In the Kursk region, Russian military continue to shell local residents, although there are no Ukrainian military there. This was reported by the spokesman of the operational-tactical group "Siversk" Vadym Mysnyk.

"The local population does not understand why they are being shelled (by Russians), because there are not even Ukrainian military nearby. But the locals suffer, they have to hide in basements for several hours, and sometimes spend half a day there," said Mysnyk.

The spokesman also added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine provide residents of Kursk, who are under control, with food, water, and medicine.

"All this depends on the military, as we comply with all international humanitarian standards and provide the local population with the necessary," stressed Mysnyk.

According to former CIA Director General David Petraeus, the Kursk operation struck at the authority of the Kremlin and showed the weakness and incapacity of Russian forces. The Armed Forces of Ukraine placed four brigades in the Kursk region, which was unexpected for the Russians even with modern surveillance.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that it is too early to assess the final results of the Kursk operation, but some achievements are already obvious.

Spokesman for the Ukrainian Armed Forces Command in Sudzha, Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, reported that Russia refuses to help its citizens who remain in the Kursk region, causing local residents to seek assistance from the Defense Forces commandant's office.
