What Russian Propaganda in ORDLO Schools Hides from Parents.
How Russian Propaganda Reaches Parents Through Schools
According to Espreso.tv: Serhiy Harmash, editor-in-chief of the publication 'Ostriv' and a former member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group, has detailed how Russian propaganda targets parents in schools across temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. He emphasized that Russian authorities actively filter information regarding fuel and food supply shortages in these areas, creating widespread misinformation and a lack of awareness among local residents about the true situation on the ground.
According to Harmash, residents of Donetsk face real difficulties accessing gasoline and bread, yet these issues are deliberately omitted from local media coverage.
“In other words, Russia filters the information, and people see that the situation is indeed worsening, but they have no understanding of just how much it is deteriorating—and crucially, why,”he stated. This demonstrates how information censorship profoundly shapes the perceptions of those living under occupation.
Growing Frustration Among Local Residents
Local inhabitants have also voiced their discontent. One resident remarked:
“Everyone here curses Russia.”Another Donetsk resident added, “We are the DPR, the LPR,” reflecting deep anxiety about their political status and the circumstances they face. These testimonies confirm that Russian propaganda and information control are severely impacting daily life in occupied areas, fostering an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear.
Under occupation, information censorship becomes a critical tool for population control, preventing people from accessing truthful accounts of their living conditions. This lack of transparency regarding the actual state of affairs can lead to increased alienation and hopelessness among residents, which in turn may hinder any future efforts to restore normal life after the conflict ends. In times of crisis, the importance of transparent information for society cannot be overstated.
