Two Foreign Ships Struck by Russian Drones in the Black Sea: One Dead, Several Injured.
Attack on Vessels
According to Novyny.live: On June 18, Russian unmanned aerial vehicles targeted two foreign civilian ships operating in Black Sea waters. The vessels, sailing under the flags of Panama and Saint Kitts and Nevis, were en route from Ukrainian ports. The assault resulted in the death of one crew member and injuries to five others. Despite the damage, both ships managed to continue moving, demonstrating their resilience under hazardous conditions.
Port Operations
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine's maritime ports have handled 40 million tons of cargo. Over half of this volume—more than 20 million tons—consists of agricultural products. Port infrastructure remains operational despite ongoing security threats stemming from repeated attacks.
Attacks on Ports
Over the past seven months, the adversary has deployed more than 1,500 strike drones against Ukrainian ports. These attacks have damaged or destroyed 966 port infrastructure facilities and over 200 civilian vessels. In total, 257 civilians have been killed or injured as a result of these strikes on port areas.
Oleh Kiper: 'These attacks are further evidence of the enemy's terrorist nature, deliberately killing civilians and endangering global food security.'
This situation highlights the grave danger facing civilian ships in the region, which could have serious repercussions for international trade and food supplies. The strikes on ports and vessels underscore Russia's escalating aggression, threatening stability in the Black Sea and beyond. The continued operation of Ukrainian ports amid relentless attacks reflects their critical importance to Ukraine's economy and the global market.
