Russian planes violated Lithuanian airspace: NATO's response

According to inkorr.com: On October 23, Thursday, two Russian military aircraft - a Su-30 fighter jet and an Il-78 refueling plane - made a brief flight over Lithuanian territory, crossing its airspace for 18 seconds. This was reported by the Reuters agency.

These planes were likely conducting training missions for refueling, having entered Lithuanian airspace from the Kaliningrad region and flying just 700 meters.

“This incident once again shows that Russia behaves like a terrorist state, violating international law and the security of neighboring countries. Lithuania is safe. Together with our allies, we will take care of and protect every centimeter of our country,” said Lithuania's Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.

In response to this incident, Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon jets from NATO's Baltic Air Policing were scrambled to patrol the region.

It is worth noting that earlier, the airspace over Vilnius International Airport was closed due to the appearance of an unidentified flying object, as well as a similar incident with Belarus.

Although the planes were only over Lithuanian territory for 18 seconds, this incident triggered a swift response from Lithuania and NATO, highlighting the tension in relations between Russia and Western nations. Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė's response indicates a serious approach to security matters and support for NATO allies.
