Russian fighters again violated Estonia's border: details of the incident.
According to inkorr.com: On Friday, three Russian MiG-31 fighters entered Estonia's airspace over the Gulf of Finland without permission, remaining there for 12 minutes. The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the temporary charge d'affaires of Russia to discuss this incident.
“Russia has already violated Estonia's airspace four times this year, which is unacceptable in itself. But today's incursion, in which three fighters entered our airspace, is unprecedentedly brazen,” said Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
Previously, Estonia restricted flights along its eastern border due to increased activity of Russian troops and Ukrainian drones in Russia's Leningrad region. This decision will allow the Defense Forces to conduct more detailed aerial surveillance and ensure security.
Security measures at the border
The Estonian Police and Border Guard is currently constructing gates and barriers at the Narva Bridge to potentially close the border crossing to Russia if necessary.
The Estonian government emphasized the unacceptability of the actions of Russian aircraft that violate airspace. The additional security measures at the border aim to protect the country from potential threats. These measures highlight the importance of maintaining international peace and stability.
This incident reflects the tension in relations between Estonia and Russia, which has been ongoing due to Russia's aggression in the region. Estonia continues to strengthen its defense capabilities in response to threats, underscoring the need for international support to ensure security in the Baltic region.
