Russian Airstrike Hits Kramatorsk: Two Injured and Dozens of Homes Destroyed.
Kramatorsk Targeted by Airstrike
According to UATV: A Russian airstrike struck Kramatorsk on February 7, wounding two people and destroying approximately 30 homes and an educational institution. The explosions occurred on a city street where Russian forces dropped three aerial bombs. One woman was injured and had to be rescued from the rubble.
The attack also damaged local residents' vehicles. Shrapnel from the bombs scattered across the area, damaging buildings and infrastructure. The wife of a local resident was knocked off her feet by the blast wave. On the same day, Russian forces struck the grounds of a city medical facility, resulting in one man being injured.
Local Residents Voice Their Fear
Local residents expressed their anxiety and terror. One resident, Raisa, recounted:
“My roof was torn off and the windows blew out. The outer doors won’t close. The house is freezing cold, there’s no electricity, nothing.”
Another resident, Yuriy, stated:
“At half past three, I went out into the garden and saw three rockets. There were bangs—and then a huge piece of shrapnel like this fell right near me. A little bit closer and it would have cut me in half. They are hitting peaceful civilians.”
This incident underscores the dire humanitarian situation in the region, where civilians remain under threat due to the armed conflict. The city of Kramatorsk, a key urban center in the Donetsk region, has repeatedly come under fire since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The airstrike in Kramatorsk is part of a prolonged escalation of violence in Ukraine caused by the ongoing war. Local residents continue to suffer the consequences of armed attacks that destroy not only infrastructure but also human lives. Such incidents highlight the critical need for international support to ensure the safety of civilians in conflict-affected regions.
