Romania summoned the Russian ambassador due to airspace violations
According to inkorr.com: On November 14, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a Russian diplomat in Bucharest. This move was a response to the incident that occurred on November 10, 2025, when a Russian drone violated the country's airspace. The debris of the drone confirmed its involvement in the events that affected the Ukrainian civilian infrastructure near the border with Romania.
The Romanian side expressed a strong protest against this violation of sovereignty and emphasized the serious threats to the safety of citizens and the region as a whole. The authorities of Romania stressed their right to protect the territory using political measures and sanctions, and also noted that they have the capabilities to monitor such situations together with allies.
“However, the citizens of Romania were not under direct threat due to the actions of the Russian Federation. Romania, along with its allies, is ready to manage any risks and continues to cooperate with partners in the European Union,” said the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Preparation for a possible conflict at the border
It should be noted that on the night of November 11, during Russia's assault on Odesa, a Russian drone was shot down in the territory of Romania that borders Ukraine. The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported detecting several groups of drones near the border, which led to increased air defense in the country.
However, despite readiness, Romanian aircraft found it difficult to carry out tasks due to unfavorable weather conditions - heavy fog complicated airspace patrolling.
Romania summoned the Russian ambassador due to violations of its airspace by drones and expressed a protest, confirming its readiness to defend its territory together with allies.
This situation underscores the importance of security at Romania's borders and its determination to protect its sovereignty. Amid growing tensions in the region, Romania is demonstrating active actions in coordination with European partners, trying to prevent potential threats and strengthen its defense capability.
