Russian shelling of the railway: which trains are delayed and what is being done for passengers.
Train delays due to shelling
According to inkorr.com: As a result of the night shelling of the railway infrastructure by Russian troops, significant delays have occurred in the movement of several trains. However, railway workers are actively working to restore movement and provide assistance to passengers. This information was reported by “Ukrzaliznytsia”, as informed by “Glavkom”.
Some trains that are detouring damaged sections are already approaching their final stations, but their return may also be delayed. Passengers of train No. 119/120 Dnipro – Chełm received buses that were waiting for them in Chełm for further travel to Lublin and Warsaw.
Passengers from the Dnipro direction received about 1500 food portions from World Central Kitchen. Thanks to this, railway workers were able to feed passengers during the journey under crisis conditions.
In addition, railway workers have prepared backup locomotives for servicing trains on damaged sections. However, delays will continue until the complete restoration of infrastructure, especially for long-distance trains. The Intercity+ train No. 731 Zaporizhia – Kyiv will also arrive in the capital with delays due to these hold-ups.
The message states: “Today proves: the experience of railway workers during the full-scale invasion and effective protocols in crisis situations serve reliably, trains continue to run despite the enemy's attempts to cause harm.”
Ukrzaliznytsia urges passengers to follow updates on official pages and check notifications in the app. Currently, train delays on some routes are caused by Russian military shelling, but some services are already finding new routes. For the restoration of movement on damaged sections, 20 backup locomotives are involved.
As a result of the night shelling of the railway infrastructure in Ukraine, certain trains have experienced significant delays. However, railway workers are actively working to resolve the situation and are trying to provide passengers with everything they need during travels. Bus transport and food provision help passengers cope with delays and return to their usual routine.
