According to inkorr.com: The State Border Guard Service announced the disbandment of the assault drone company of the 10th mobile unit due to the failure to meet assigned tasks. This was reported by the service spokesman Andriy Demchenko, quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

The unit, created by Yuriy Kasyanov in April 2024, initially consisted of 40 servicemen, but later their number increased to 100.

According to Demchenko, the group made 560 sorties to strike enemy targets, using 299 drones. The maintenance costs amounted to over 6 tons of fuel, portable radios, Starlink, laptops, and tablets.

However, no strikes on enemy targets have been confirmed, which became the reason for disbanding the unit due to its ineffectiveness. The servicemen will be transferred to other units according to their specialties.

Reaction to the disbandment

Yuriy Kasyanov expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, believing that his unit was unjustly disbanded, as they successfully struck targets on Russian territory. The head of the Armed Forces, Robert Madyar Brovdi, calls to retain professionals and not to distribute experienced personnel.

To improve the management of drone systems and adapt them to new requirements, plans are being made to create a new grouping.

Thus, the drone unit of the State Border Guard Service has been disbanded due to failures in mission execution, although the costs of maintaining it were significant. The leadership decided to distribute the personnel among other combat units. Meanwhile, the former commander of the unit believes that this decision was unjust, as their strikes yielded successful results.
