At the Hanover County shelter, which took in the animal, it was noted that the officer was able to safely capture the 'very drunken raccoon' and take it for recovery.

After several hours of sleep, the animal came to and showed no visible injuries - except for symptoms similar to a hangover. The raccoon was released back into its natural habitat.
