Ukrainian Armed Forces reclaimed 60 square kilometers in Donbas: Syrskiy reported Russian army losses for the day.
According to General Syrskiy, the Ukrainian Armed Forces restored control over the territory
According to The Sun: In Ukraine, it was reported that the Armed Forces managed to change the course of hostilities in an important area of the east. General Oleksandr Syrskiy stated that the Ukrainian troops regained control over approximately 60 square miles of territory, marking a significant victory since August.
This achievement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was made possible after months of continuous attacks by Russian troops, which significantly undermined the fighting spirit of Ukrainians.
General Syrskiy also reported enormous losses for Russian troops, including 1,500 killed, a thousand wounded, and 12 destroyed main battle tanks.
“Control has been restored in seven settlements, and nine others have been cleared of enemy saboteurs and reconnaissance groups,” said General Syrskiy.
As of September 22, a total of 164.0 km² has been liberated and another 180.3 km² cleared of enemy sabotage groups.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the success of the counteroffensive, which was a response to the unexpected Russian advance in August.
Situation at the front
The conflict has led to significant losses on both sides. Currently, Ukrainian troops have begun pushing back Russian fortifications.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces noted that over the last 24 hours, the enemy lost 65 servicemen, of which 43 were killed, as well as 11 units of equipment, including four artillery pieces and six drones.
“Enemy troops advanced between 200 meters and 2.5 kilometers in certain areas,” added General Syrskiy.
He also reported the destruction of Russian equipment, including 12 main battle tanks and nearly 60 motorcycles during the counteroffensive.
Despite the successes of Ukrainian forces, Russia claims that its troops have advanced south of Pokrovsk and captured the village of Kalynivske, but Ukraine denies this.
This situation unfolds against the backdrop of President Zelenskyy's preparations for a meeting with Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly in New York. Zelenskyy intends to push for sanctions against Russia in case Putin refuses to meet.
“I thought this war would be one of the easiest to resolve because of my relationship with Putin. But he really let me down,” said Trump.
British intelligence warned that Putin is “deceiving the world” and not interested in a peaceful resolution, except in Ukraine's capitulation.
“We must not believe him or recognize the power he does not have,” said the head of MI6.
Britain and European leaders continue to support President Zelenskyy despite previous negative experiences working with Trump.
