Salmonellosis outbreak among children in Lviv region

According to inkorr.com: The epidemiological investigation of a case of food poisoning that occurred in the village of Slavske has been completed in the Lviv region. According to the State Food and Consumer Service, ten children fell ill with salmonellosis. On August 17, 2025, a group of 34 children arrived at the hotel and leisure complex 'Karpaty Atmosphere', of which ten showed symptoms of poisoning during their stay at the 'Karpaty' hotel.

During the investigation, it became known that the cause of the illness was the pathogen Salmonella enteritidis found in dishes made with chicken fillet. Experts pointed out violations of sanitary regulations, non-compliance with cooking technology, and the lack of separation of zones for product processing. As a result, the production of food products in these establishments was suspended, and both enterprises were fined.

It is worth noting that the administration of the 'Karpaty' hotel refused to cooperate with the investigation, but the management of the 'Karpaty Atmosphere' assisted the inspectors.

Currently, the affected children are hospitalized, receiving medical assistance, and research is being conducted to determine the causes of their illness.

Therefore, an incident of salmonellosis poisoning affecting ten children occurred in the Lviv region, caused by violations of sanitary regulations and improper food preparation in hotel establishments. Thanks to the epidemiological investigation, the source of the problem was identified, and necessary measures were taken to improve food safety in recreational facilities.
