Ukrainian Security Service Strikes Novorossiysk Port, Damaging Russian Vessels and Causing Casualties.
Strike on Novorossiysk Port
According to Novyny.live: On the night of March 2, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) targeted the port of Novorossiysk in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. The attack resulted in damage to Russian naval vessels and inflicted casualties among their crews. This operation demonstrates Ukraine's capability to project force against strategic Russian assets far from the front lines.
The sea minesweeper 'Valentin Pikul' was hit in the assault. Significant damage was also inflicted on the anti-submarine ships 'Yeysk' and 'Kasimov'. According to reports, three Russian sailors were killed and fourteen others wounded. The strike additionally damaged a 30N6E2 guidance radar for an S-300PMU-2 'Favorit' system, a 'Pantsir-S2' anti-aircraft missile system, and six out of seven oil loading arms at the 'Sheskharis' oil terminal. A fire at the port burned throughout the night.
Actions by Ukraine's Armed Forces
In a separate action on March 1, Ukraine's Armed Forces struck Russian radar stations and logistical infrastructure both within Russia and in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. The invaders lost an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system and an S-300V4 radar station. In the final days of February, Ukrainian Defense Forces also hit an enemy S-400 'Triumph' launcher, a 'Pantsir-S1' anti-aircraft system, and a BM-21 'Grad' multiple rocket launcher.
The attack on Novorossiysk port underscores the Ukrainian Security Service's active role in countering Russian aggression and highlights the focus of Ukrainian efforts on destroying key enemy military installations. These events point to an escalation in military actions and the continuation of Ukrainian strategic strikes against targets on Russian territory. Such operations are likely to have a significant impact on the broader conflict, intensifying military tensions. As activity from both sides increases, the international community continues to monitor developments and their implications for regional security.
