According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian Security Service has obtained new evidence of the involvement of Russian high-ranking officials in war crimes committed at the beginning of the war. This information was reported by the well-known online publication 'Hlavkom'.

According to the obtained data, in March 2022, Russian military forces carried out mass attacks on civilians and infrastructure in the Sumy region. The use of 20 FAB-500 explosive bombs led to significant destruction: residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, and other facilities were damaged.

“According to the case materials, the order for the airstrike was issued by the commander of the Western Military District of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlyov.”

The investigation by the Security Service confirms the involvement in the bombings of such individuals as Lieutenant General Oleg Makovetsky, Lieutenant General Yuriy Podoplelov, Major General Denis Kulsh, and Colonel Volodymyr Fedoseyev. The attacks were carried out by Russian pilots who took off from a base in the Kursk region.

Accountability for war crimes

Six proposed individuals have been charged under parts of Articles 28 and 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. All efforts are aimed at ensuring that each of the culprits is held accountable. An investigation has also been launched in the case of the murder of Irina Filkina and the torture of Ukrainian military personnel who have become prisoners.

The Security Service of Ukraine continues to actively collect evidence of military crimes and is working to ensure that all guilty parties face justice for their actions during the military actions on the territory of Ukraine.

These new pieces of evidence represent an important step towards ensuring accountability for those responsible for military crimes. The Security Service of Ukraine continues its work, hoping that the gathered materials will help strengthen the position of the Ukrainian side at the international level and in legal proceedings.
