Lviv Markets in August: Cheap Cucumbers and Raspberry Tomatoes for 110 UAH.

In August, Lviv markets turn into a real vegetable kaleidoscope. Stalls display dozens of varieties of tomatoes and cucumbers. Tomatoes and cucumbers are in peak season: some for salads, others for conservation.

What is the price of cucumbers in Lviv

Under the counters at the Halytskyi market, there are dozens of boxes filled with green and red vegetables. Saleswoman Mrs. Inna, with a smile, shares: now is the best time for salad lovers and homemade preservation.

'This is the peak of cucumbers. Look how big, beautiful, and charming they are!' — she shows off her goods.

According to her, there are several types of cucumbers — for salads, pickling, and fermenting. The most popular are the so-called Nizhyn cucumbers: large, juicy, and strong. Smaller ones — cornichons — are picked for preservation.

'Look how cute these cucumbers are. A democratic price — 50 hryvnias. And there is the 'intelligent' one — 120 hryvnias. Small and skinny, for snacks', — the woman explains.

From Transcarpathia and Ternopil

Mrs. Inna says that vegetables are brought to the market from several regions: Transcarpathia, Ternopil Oblast, and Zhovkva. The first batches of local vegetables are already appearing — still in small volumes, but the quality is good.

'Cucumbers love the sun. Look how healthy it is. There are also locals — about 10–15 kilograms. But we are still waiting for a larger harvest', — the saleswoman shares.

Raspberry Tomato — the 'Queen' of Tomatoes

No less popular are tomatoes. The highest demand is for raspberry tomatoes. Mrs. Inna mentions that they are the true star of the market: large, fragrant, and tender in taste.

'These are our beloved. Very tasty tomatoes. Raspberry tomatoes are 110 hryvnias. It’s like the queen of tomatoes. There are also tall Transcarpathian tomatoes — 120 hryvnias per kilogram', — she proudly states.
