Comment from the Foreign Minister Regarding the Loan to Ukraine

According to ТСН: Andriy Sybiha, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the decision to provide Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros. He emphasized that significant roles in reaching this agreement were played by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Sybiha noted that the decision by EU leaders to provide financial assistance is a historic moment that indicates the need for accountability from Russia for the crimes committed. He also emphasized that this was a 'manifestation of the strategic choice' of European leaders.

'Both President Zelensky and the Polish Prime Minister spoke about this: either choose funding today, or pay with blood in the future. This was the dilemma faced by European leaders, and I believe Europe has dealt with it. This is also about the subjectivity of Europe, about strong decisions that testify to its determination in the fight against the Russian aggressor,' Sybiha stated.

It was also previously reported that the European Union made a significant decision by allocating €90 billion to support Ukraine.

Additionally, the British authorities decided not to use frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine's needs unilaterally.

Thus, the decision to provide a loan to Ukraine has become an important step in supporting our country amid the armed conflict. The efforts of European leaders open up new opportunities for strengthening Ukraine's economic stability on the path to recovery and future development. At the same time, the UK decision not to use frozen Russian assets may impact the funding of assistance to Ukraine, underscoring the need for coordinated actions in this situation.
